Feng Shui is a set of tools that allow us to shape or harness energy. It isn’t a religion, magic, or a “belief”. Much like gravity, energy is all around us too. We don’t “believe” in gravity, we just know it’s there. I’m sure if there were tools to make us not fall as hard or prevent things from breaking when we dropped them, we would!
Feng Shui translated as “Wind Water” is an ancient Chinese practice that has been around for over 5,000 years. Some of the first applications of Feng Shui are said to have been used by farmers who were wanting aid in growing crops. Other uses documented were for burial sites. Loved ones were buried in positive, energetic spaces, which was thought to bring better luck from those ancestors.
Like with most historical research and practices, the core principles become twisted into other meanings or applied differently. There are many different Feng Shui schools now, some more “do it yourself” than others. 5,000 years ago, when it was discovered, they were not placing lucky charm cats with waving hands and diamond-encrusted frogs everywhere, so we will not be doing that either.
I practice classical Feng Shui while also applying forms school and flying star technique. By using these, I consider form, direction, and time when assessing your space. Time is always moving forward, life is always evolving, so we must consider that as we change, our home will also change with time.
You can see benefits from it by making simple adjustments to your home. I like to take a straightforward, practical approach. I can help you repurpose and rearrange items that are already in your home.
Though understanding the calculations and concepts that make up the Feng Shui principles are elaborate and complex, applying them is simple. I am here to help you reap all the benefits and save you time. Learn more about how a Feng Shui Consultant can help you today!
